  • Administer Department of Transportation (DOT) safety policies and practices, analyzing cause/effect, and implementing solutions
  • Assist with the development and execution of fleet safety and sustainability objectives
  • Ensures all driver safety manuals, programs, policies and practices are current and meet the needs of the company
  • Reviews reporting of all commercial and vehicular accidents/incidents for determination of cause and preventability, identifying potential trends to be addressed in future training efforts
  • Ensures that safety technology tools are used, results are examined, trend data is analyzed and plans are developed to reduce and prevent safety incidents
  • Ensures and promotes a consistent driver safety culture throughout the organization
  • Develops and implements programs for both truck and passenger vehicles. The programs must be designed to improve fleet safety, reduce injuries and accidents and FMCSA compliance
  • Develop and execute a fuel conservation plan to reduce fuel usage and improve overall MPG
  • Develop and administer driver recognition programs for outstanding performance
  • Maintain industry knowledge and remain up to date on EHS regulations and best practices
  • Evaluate EHS suppliers that will improve Bunzl’s compliance and performance
  • Conduct periodic location inspections regarding DOT records and all transportation compliance procedures. Conduct reviews to ensure that compliance systems are being used and effective

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Transportation or safety
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years' related experience in transportation
  • Must possess working knowledge of the following: DOT regulations, Transportation Safety practices, Accident investigation and prevention, FMCSA, and CSA 2010
  • Proficient in MS Office products
  • High organizational and Information management skills
  • Leadership and change management training is a plus
  • Proven leadership results
  • Commercial motor vehicle driving experience a plus
  • Experience building and executing strategic plans
  • Ability to work in teams of an extended enterprise
  • Sustainability experience (fuel usage reduction) is a plus
  • Ability to travel up to 25% for conducting EHS audits and training at warehouse locations in the US
