  • Daily completion of 569 freight edit report for billing manually rated shipments
  • Process freight assignments for new store orders (NSOs)
  • Initiate, process, and document freight claims
  • Assist internal account teams with freight quotes, tracing, and expediting shipments
  • Perform freight rating analysis for existing customers and for responses to new account RFPs
  • Release of freight holds
  • Assist with Transportation Management Systems (TMS):  Autocalc/Varsity carrier pricing updates
  • Accurately and timely add freight invoice charges to customer orders on the daily report; understand the process of an order from start to finish
  • Work with both internal (Customer Service /Account Team/Warehouse) and external (carriers) sources to reconcile conflicting information on orders
  • Manage time schedules for new stores for various accounts  
  • Coordinate warehouse and carrier to meet customer requested due dates
  • Primary contact with the carrier for the customer specific needs to complete the new store deliveries; follow through order from pre-shipping through delivery 
  • Update new store order spreadsheet to assist with overall evaluation of effectiveness of our handling of new stores
  • Investigate, initiate, review, process and close freight claims for both inbound and outbound shipments.  Understand various differences among carrier types (parcel , LTL and TL) in order to process the claims properly. 
  • Communicate updates to internal customers (Account Team); work with Finance to process payments of claims from carriers
  • Effective communication to carriers & account team in order to determine the status of current orders
  • Secure accurate and timely quotes for services as requested by customer/account teams; be able to offer viable options for resolution for orders in jeopardy of not meeting expectations
  • Secure accurate rates whether as ad hoc quotes with the carriers or through using the TMS program (AutoCalc) for use on customer specific rate analysis
  • Assess the proper routing of orders that are on hold and communicate such or correct as needed with the Account Team members
  • Process weekly, monthly, and annual carrier updates in the AutoCalc and Varsity systems to ensure orders are accurate when placed by account team or customer


  • High school graduate with some college or equivalent work experience
  • Prior experience in an office or distribution center environment
  • Exposure to problem solving, a good math aptitude and be able to handle multiple requests simultaneously
  • At least 5 years of experience in a logistics or transportation environment is required
  • Strong organizational skills and a high comfort level with computers and data bases (Excel and JDE/PeopleSoft ERP)
  • Self-motivated candidate will have above average communication skills (written & verbal) and excellent phone skills 
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision 
  • Previous experience in transportation and/or logistics is preferred
  • Knowledge of carrier pricing/tariffs, hazmat certification and NMFC
  • Some knowledge of international transportation is desired
  • Detail oriented and accuracy is a must
