The Trade Compliance Coordinator position is an entry level position into the trade compliance profession.  The ideal candidate will be someone with a demonstrated interest in international business, either through education or work experience, as well as someone who enjoys working with complexity.  Working in trade compliance, the individual will gain knowledge of and exposure to many different aspects of international business; finance, logistics, transportation, government regulation, quality control, customer service and more.  Trade compliance is a field that will allow an individual the opportunity to learn about all of the moving parts of a truly international operation.

 This position is responsible for the day to day transactional activities associated with maintaining the Corporate Trade Compliance Program. The Trade Compliance Coordinator will help ensure compliance with all company policies related to import and export compliance, as well as Customs and Other Government Agency regulations. 

Responsibilities:

  • File ISF’s (Importer Security Filings) for consolidated shipments out of the Shanghai warehouse
  • Monitor ISF filings submitted by Bunzl Trading Shanghai staff for factory direct shipments
  • Accumulate, validate, and send documentation to Customs Broker necessary for clearance of international shipments
  • Serve as primary contact to Customs Brokers to answer transactional questions
  • Work within Global Trade Management software to assist with job functions
  • Assist with monitoring of brokerage and ISF key performance indicators
  • Assist with maintenance of product data integrity as needed: Harmonized Tariff Schedule classifications, Country of Origin, Free Trade Agreements, Product Valuation information
  • Maintenance of Record-keeping requirements
  • Coordinate with company Corporate Trade Compliance team on compliance related projects
  • Participate on cross-functional teams to continuously improve the global supply chain

Requirements:

  • High School diploma required, Bachelor’s degree in a Business related field preferred
  • Work or educational experience with international logistics, international transportation, or trade compliance
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel and data management
  • Ability to communicate effectively with persons of differing responsibility levels in the company
  • Previous experience with government regulations preferred
  • Previous experience working with or for a Customs Broker, Freight Forwarder, or Importer preferred
  • Experience with importations from China preferred
  • Requires intermediate PC proficiency including Microsoft Office products. Experience with IBM I-Series (AS400) operating system a plus
