The Senior Director, Optimization will be responsible for the ongoing optimization of the distribution network and will support the development and execution of supply chain, acquisition and real estate strategies.  Requirements:

  • Develop and execute network strategy solutions including the optimal use of current assets, investments in new technology, expansion of capacity and evaluation of alternative fulfillment models.
  • Model, initiate and drive complex Network Optimization projects. Plan implementation of recommendations (with appropriate partners) and track progress, spend, business impact, and value creation, as needed.
  • Develop network and visibility models to support projects including the integration of existing distribution centers, construction of new/acquired distribution centers, the automation of existing distribution centers, and the optimization of end-to-end supply chain costs.
  • Develop a pipeline of savings ideas to drive long term results across the enterprise.
  • Analyze supply chain and network data via enterprise databases and other data sources to include development of Material Flow Diagrams and related analysis.
  • Lead a team of analysts to develop optimization results that support the division strategies and deliver financial goals.
  • Oversee the corporate real estate portfolio including 12M sq. ft. and complex lease administration and process.
  • Drive innovation in new and existing distribution facilities: Evaluate and implement new technologies, processes and formats to increase efficiency and service levels.
  • Recommend technology and equipment enhancements to maximize efficiency and productivity. Partner closely with Information Technology on any system enhancements or additions.

Responsibilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Advanced degree, certification or experience in Logistics, Operations or Optimization is a plus.
  • Must have at least 5 years of senior leadership experience in a high volume, fast paced warehousing environment.
  • Must be able to travel and relocate as needed;
  • Comprehensive knowledge of large distribution operations, including case, pallet and small/pick & pack formats.
  • Operational experience (including private fleet, freight, warehouse, transportation procurement) and knowledge of the supply, food and distribution industry is a plus.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal and presentation skills including the ability to prepare comprehensive reports and represent ideas clearly and concisely.
  • Knowledge and experience with specific optimization tools, supply chain/ERP systems as well as Microsoft suite and applications.
  • Technology examples: Goods to person systems including Pallet, Case and Break Case AS/RS, Systems Vertical/Horizontal Carousel, voice-pick, Pick to Light, Multi-shuttle, and Conveyors.
  • Experience modeling and leading optimization/rationalization teams and projects.
  • Must be able to lead in a decentralized environment requiring a wide degree of creativity and latitude, and support field and corporate leaders while maintaining positive relationships.
  • Strong analytical and financial understanding including analysis of warehouse capabilities, capital expenditures and scale.
