Bunzl USA is seeking a full-time Lead Software Engineer who is passionate about technology, software development, and eCommerce.  The Lead Software Engineer position will challenge you and provide you opportunities for career and technical growth.  You will be part of the leadership of our highly talented, energetic, and dynamic team.
The Lead Software Engineer will work closely with our manager of software engineering and focus on the implementation of our new eCommerce platform. You will serve as a technical leader and mentor for our growing software development team.  The Lead Software Engineer will be expected to take technical leadership of concurrent eCommerce projects and see them through from start to finish.  This candidate will report to the manager of software engineering. 
  • Technical Leadership: Review and oversee projects to embed architectural standards and practices, eliminate duplicate functionality and system capabilities, identify and mitigate divergence from business and IT objectives, goals, or strategies.  Experience using and integrating emerging technologies into features. Mentor and develop skills of more junior developers.
  • eCommerce (B2P – Business to People): Strong understanding and working knowledge of both B2C and B2B ecommerce best practices (Search, Multi Site eCommerce Platforms, and Product Information Management Platforms).  Ability to not only provide technical solutions to business needs but also contributes to the growth of the eCommerce platform.
  • Content Management (CMS):Proficient with enterprise level CMS platforms such as SiteCore as well as open-source systems such as WordPress.
  • Communication: Effectively communicate and collaborate with business users, technical team members and internal marketing teams. 
  • Web Services and API’s: Strong understanding of web services, API’s and their associated technologies (REST, JSON and XML).
  • Best Practices: Implement, maintain and enforce software development best practices such as Continuous Integration.
  • Software Development: Perform hands-on development and unit testing of web and mobile based software solutions primarily based on Microsoft technologies, including but not limited to Microsoft .NET and Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Problem Solving: Ability to apply object oriented design patterns and principles to solve business problems. Must possess excellent debugging skills.
  • Business Requirements Consumption: Ability to gain a deep understanding of written and verbal business requirements provided by other business analysts or customers.
  • Project Leadership: Accountability for the team meeting deadlines and taking ownership to see projects through successful completion.
  • Quality Assurance:  Actively participate in quality assurance, including hands-on system and user testing of the software developed, and developing automated unit tests.
  • Implementation and Support: Software deployments and ongoing software support.
  • Recruiting Staff: Participate in the recruitment and retention of new developers.  Including, reviewing new candidates and interviewing.
